Design for a low-energy tropical resort consisting service apartments, 4* hotel and villas, situated on a tropical island off the west coast of Malaysia.

The challenge was to retain the beautiful tropical environment while sensitively developing the steeply sloping site. The project is designed as a series of short ‘towers’ inserted into the forest that cantilever from a central core or trunk – much like a tree - thus touching the site with minimal impact. In this way 80% of the trees can be retained.
