A thorough site analysis is imperative to understand the site i.e. contours, trees, views, water bodies, shading etc. The site condition is then used for the benefit of the building i.e. keeping existing hills/slopes, trees, maximizing views etc. Understanding the site climatic conditions is also necessary both macro & micro that will include an analysis of rainfall, sun-path, solar radiation, prevailing winds etc.
Vital though the above analysis is, there is something more than this to understand, something personal to the individual architects’ interpretation of this Place. Much time must be spent at the site to fully interpret & understand what should be built here – to find the spirit of the site.
