Arts Council Gallery, UK

The brief was to encourage the public to engage with the arts in a new gallery proposed in a provincial town centre.

The design creates a public park in the form of a walled garden that can be entered either through the gallery or directly from the street providing a quiet oasis in the city centre. Thus a resting sanctuary in the work day or a lunchtime meeting place is created that will encourage public participation in the gallery activities and artworks on display in both the park and the gallery.
