After purchasing an adjacent factory to their existing electronics facility, the brief from our client was to design a 35,000sf canteen & multipurpose hall for both factories to share. The site selected for the new building is a road frontage central location between the 2 factories creating a new ‘face’ & a clear and identifiable statement for the company.

The 2 sites differ in level by half a storey which informed the design the split-level open plan canteen straddling the boundary between the 2 sites. Different cuisines are offered at the different levels with a coffee-shop & area at the highest level. External balconies extend from each canteen level with extensive landscape & tree planting providing shading & relief & a sense of calmness from the industrial surroundings.

A multipurpose hall floats over the canteen providing meeting & with a new boardroom cantilevering out towards the main road marking the site entrance.
