RIBA competition entry for an extension to Sir John Soane’s listed C19 art gallery at Dulwich to provide support facilities such as café, lecture room and bookshop etc.
A new public space is created - a grass hollow amphitheatre in the park which is transected by a new pedestrian route linking 2 roads. Using the route, the public participate in the life of the gallery and are encouraged to explore the artworks further.
The grass hollow is entered – a space where we cannot escape ourselves, where we are bound only by Nature.
The building belongs to Nature. We belong to Nature.
